Kota Greenfield Airport to provide State-of-the-art facilities, says CM

Jaipur: CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said on Friday that Kota Greenfield Airport will prove to be a milestone in providing state-of-the-art air facilities to the common people. “Its construction will not only give impetus to tourism in the state but will also increase education and business activities. Development of aviation sector is important in achieving the goal of developed Rajasthan,” Sharma said while presiding over meeting held on Friday in CMO on tripartite MoU between the AAI, UDD and CAD regarding the development of Kota Greenfield Airport.

CM Sharma said that the air sector is being focused on at the same scale at the pace at which road and rail routes are expanding in the state. The CM said that the construction of Greenfield Airport in Kota, the city of education and industries, will provide air facilities to lakhs of residents of Hadoti region. There will be no shortage in the fulfillment of our government’s resolution, he said.

Sharma said that the capacity of the terminal of Jaipur Airport is also being expanded. “At present, its capacity is 50 lakh passengers per year, which will increase to 70 lakh per year after expansion,” he said and urged the Chairman of the AAI to start work soon for the new state terminal at Jaipur Airport. The Chief Minister said that the state government will provide free land for the development and expansion of Udaipur airport and permanent civil enclave and approach road at Uttarlai (Barmer) airport. The state govt will provide free land, Airports Authority of India will construct and operate it.

The Chief Minister said that the state government will provide land free of cost for the construction of Kota Greenfield Airport and at the same time, the entire responsibility of construction, development and operation of the Greenfield Airport will be of the Airports Authority of India. He informed that the Airports Authority of India has been given permission to survey the airport. Also, the necessary action has been taken to shift the 400 kV high tension line of PGCIL (Power Grid Corporation of India Limited) from the proposed land of the airport and funds will also be made available for this.

The Chief Minister directed the officials of Kota Development Authority to prepare a roadmap for planned development around the proposed airport.
