Journos are vigilant watchdogs of our democracy, says CM
Jaipur: CM Ashok Gehlot said on Monday that journalists are vigilant watchdogs of democracy. In a democratic system, the importance of the party is only when the opposition exists, Gehlot said while addressing the statelevel press conference organized by the Small and Medium Newspaper Association in Durgapura on Monday.
He said that the state govt has taken many important decisions for the welfare of journalists. “The interests of newspapers and journalists have been protected by the establishment of Journalist Welfare Fund and Samvad. The govt should take the suggestions of journalists positively. In a democracy, both side and opposition are important. There is no justification for the side without the opposition. The state govt is giving pension of `15,000 per month to the journalists under Senior Approved Journalist Samman Yojana. The state govt has allotted plots to journalists at many places including Alwar and Udaipur,” he said.
