JMCH seizes 200 Kg single-use plastic in Jawahar Nagar
Jaipur: In a decisive action against single-use plastic, Jaipur Municipal Corporation Heritage seized around 200 kilograms of plastic bags on Wednesday. The incident occurred in the Jawahar Nagar area, where a rickshaw driver, fearing a fine, abandoned sacks of plastic bags and fled upon seeing the municipal squad.
The health branch of the corporation, led by Deputy Commissionerhealth Sohan Singh Naruka, carried out the operation under instructions of JMCH Abhishek Surana. Merchants in the walled city’s markets are increasingly apprehensive about being fined, resulting in many disowning plastic bags to avoid penalties.
Over the past two months of 2024, aipur Municipal Corporation Heritage has collected over 35 lakh rupees in carrying charges and seized 6,000 kilograms of single use plastic. The continuous enforcement has created a palpable fear among plastic bag sellers in the area.
