Jats hold maha padao over reservation in jobs & education
Bharatpur: Jat community leaders on Wednesday started a protest at Jaicholi in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur demanding reservation in OBC in jobs and education at the Centre.
The community leaders will continue the protest till January 22 and the movement will be intensified if demand is not fulfilled.
“Till January 22, we will protest in a Gandhian way. If the government does not fulfill the demands then the movement will be intensified,” Bharatpur-Dholpur Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti convenor Nem Singh Faujdar said.
Faujdar said that in 2015, reservation for Jats of Bharatpur and Dholpur along with nine states was abolished by the Centre citing shortcomings in the provisions of law and procedures.
Faujdar said that a memorandum regarding the inclusion of Jats in the reservation list of the Center was also sent to the Prime Minister through the District Collector on January 12, but no hearing has been held on it yet.
In view of the protest, police force has been deployed in the area.
Police teams also present near the railway track. Six RAC companies, 180 policemen from various police stations, 100 RPF and GRPF personnel are have been deployed.
