Illegal colonies rampant in Jpr’s Ecological Zone

Jaipur: The unregulated development of illegal colonies in Jaipur’s ecological zones, particularly along Agra Road, shows no signs of abating. This rampant activity is largely attributed to gross negligence by the responsible (JDA) officials.

Currently, two illegal colonies, named Shri Shyam Aangan and Vasant Kunj, are being developed in full swing in the ecological zone, violating strict HC directives issued in the Gulab Kothari case. According to these orders, no new residential or commercial activities are permitted in ecological zones. Despite this, land developers are actively carving out unauthorized colonies in the area.

In particular, these two colonies are being developed in Bassi Tehsil — Vasant Kunj near Kanota and Shri Shyam Aangan in Jeetwala village. Reports suggest that a single group of land developers is behind these illegal developments. As per the Jaipur Development Authority Act, 1982, no residential or commercial schemes can be developed without JDA approval.
