IAS Alok returns to Raj after 4-yr-long Central deputation

Jaipur: Alok, a 1993 batch IAS officer of the state cadre, is coming back to home cadres to join DoP on Monday - the auspicious day of the Ram Temple Consecration ceremony. He is returning from central deputation after 4 years. His return is coming at a time when BJP’s Bhajan Lal government has just started work in the state and needs strong and experienced bureaucrats to establish its foothold. Alok is a seasoned bureaucrat with a good track record. He is considered a hard taskmaster and is known for fast implementation and tight monitoring. He has extensive experience in administration in central and state governments.

He went on central deputation in January 2020. In four years he worked as a member (administration) in the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and Additional Secretary in National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). Even before this, he had been on deputation in the Government of India for 4 years (2018-2014). Alok has been Collector of five districts, Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Bikaner, Bundi, and Udaipur during his service in the state. He has commanded big and important departments like PWD, Revenue, Rural Development, Energy, and MSME. He has also been the MD of RIICO and RSRTC.

As such his varied experience of working at Centre as well as in the state will come in handy for the new government, which needs officers like Alok. To get results before the Lok Sabha elections, he will act as a connector between double engines, Center and state. He stands at the seniority of 7th position in the civil list in the state. He is due to get a good posting as ACS.
