Heavy rains fill up dams across state
Jaipur: Although the cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ created havoc in parts of Rajasthan a few days back, it has helped to fill water reservoirs of the state. The dams, especially those located in Western Rajasthan, recorded a steep rise in water level due to incessant rains.
As per estimates, the state had already received 25 percent of rainfall which it could get from the upcoming monsoon. Officials informed that Rajasthan received a rainfall of 110 mm during the Biparjoy cyclone.
Districts like Rajsamand, Barmer, Tonk, Jailsalmer, Ajmer also received good rainfall due to the cyclone. Officials said that there are 690 dams, including 278 big and 412 small, and almost all dams have got an amount of water. A total of 65 dams are filled up to capacity while 277 dams are expected to fill soon.
