Heavy penalties for illegal liquor sale
Jaipur: Excise Commissioner Shivprasad Nakate has issued a stern reminder to hotel, restaurant, and club bar operators in Rajasthan to avoid selling illegal liquor.
In a letter sent to license holders, Nakate warned operators to refrain from serving alcoholic beverages from other states without proper authorisation.
“There have been repeated complaints that liquor from other states has been found without paying Rajasthan’s excise duty,” the Commissioner noted, highlighting the department’s ongoing efforts to address the issue.
Under the Excise Act of 1950, violations of the liquor rules and norms can lead to a penalty and a prison sentence of up to three years. The Commissioner also asked the public to report any activity regarding illegal liquor to the department at the official toll-free number 18001806436 or through the control room at 0294-2525154.
