Govt begins exercise to change 5-mth-old compensation policy

Jaipur: The State Government has started an exercise to settle the cases of compensation for land acquisition pending for years in local bodies across the State. For this, the government is preparing for major changes in the five-month-old Compensation Policy. The State Govt had issued a detailed order on June 1, 2022, to curb the arbitrariness of the State’s urban local bodies in giving land instead of land in cases of acquisition. In this order, a policy has been decided by the government to bring transparency in disposal of cases of giving land as compensation and to end the game of ‘pick and choose.’ In this policy, provisions were made regarding cases where, land compensation can be given & where it can’t be given. But in spite of all this, there are a large number of cases which are not being disposed of due to these provisions.
