Gaurav becomes Joint Secretary in LS Speaker’s office
Jaipur: The young IAS of the state, Gaurav Goyal, has made Rajasthan proud. He has been given a major responsibility in an important constitutional office in Delhi as Gaurav has been appointed Joint Secretary in Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s office for a tenure of three years. The Lok Sabha Secretariat issued orders in this regard on Friday.
It is noteworthy that on July 23, ten days before Gaurav Goyal’s appointment, FIRST INDIA had given indications of another Constitutional appointment from Jaipur to Delhi. 2006 batch IAS Gaurav Goyal is currently serving as Secretary to the Governor at Jaipur Raj Bhawan.
According to sources, many young Army officers from across the country had applied for the position in Lok Sabha Speaker’s office in Delhi. But, Speaker Om Birla himself selected Gaurav Goyal from all the applicants. Gaurav is a meritorious, brilliant, and a result-oriented officer. At the age of 22, he passed the UPSC exam in the first attempt and secured 10th rank. He has sufficient knowledge and experience in field administration, having been a Collector in 5 districts including Jodhpur, Kota, Ajmer, Bharatpur, and Barmer. Influenced by this, a former CM of the state had said “We require at least ten more Gauravs for various District Collector posts.”
While being Commissioner of Jaipur and Jodhpur Development Authorities, Gaurav left a mark on his capabilities and capacity. As Ashok Gehlot’s Secretary, he performed his responsibilities well in the CM office for 18 months. When the government changed the then Rajasthan Governor, Kalraj Mishra himself selected Gaurav Goyal as his Secretary and took him to Raj Bhavan.
Interestingly, the chair of which he will take charge in the Lok Sabha Speaker’s office was also occupied by a young IAS from Rajasthan, Siddharth Mahajan. At that time, there was no Secretary and for two years, Siddharth Mahajan handled the responsibility of the post of Secretary very well while being the Joint-Secretary. It is believed that Gaurav Goyal will also work there according to this system.
It is believed that the trust and confidence with which Om Birla kept Siddharth Mahajan for two years is the same trust and confidence he has extended to Gaurav as Siddharth’s successor.
