First list of candidates may be issued in Sept
Jaipur: The ruling Congress in Rajasthan has swung into election mode with the formation of Screening Committee, which is crucial for candidate selection.
Congress leader from Assam Gaurav Gogoi, who has been given the reins of the Committee, will hold the first meeting of the Committee soon. However, before that, the Election Committee will hold its meeting. The work of the Screening Committee is very important in view of candidate selection. After discussion on the panel, the parliamentary board decides the final name of the candidate.
Party sources said that first list of the candidates may be issued in September for which exercise would begin after Rahul Gandhi’s Banswara visit in the coming days.
Gaurav Gogoi, who is considered close to Rahul Gandhi, has been made the chairman of the Rajasthan Screening Committee. Instead of giving the responsibility to an elderly and senior leader, the party has chosen the young leader. es said that 50 percent tickets may be given to young faces as per the Udaipur declaration. Young leader from Delhi Abhishek Dutt has been made a member of the screening committee.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, party in charge for Rajasthan Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, PCC Chief Govind Singh Dotasara, Sachin Pilot, CP Joshi were made members.
