Fire at advanced testing lab in SMS, Minister orders probe

Jaipur: The sudden fire in SMS Medical College on Monday morning once again raised questions about the working style of the entire administration. After an explosion, a fire broke out in the cold storage of the microbiology lab of the college and within no time it took a huge form.

On receiving the information, police and fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and controlled the fire after about three hours. Medical Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar reached the college and directed to investigate the entire incident. He along with Additional CS Medical Shubhra Singh and Medical Education Commissioner Shivprasad Nakate took stock of the incident site.

During this, Khinvsar said that prima facie it seems light that the fire was caused by the short circuit.

According to the college administration, advanced-level testing related to TB, Swine Flu and Covid is done in here.

The place where the fire broke out was a cold storage. Apart from this, genome sequencing of COVID-19 was also done in this lab.
