Faulty gravel figures pose question on Mines dept

Jaipur: Wrong calculation on gravel lease in Tonk has become a problem for the Mines Department. According to the drone survey, six gravel stocks were in Tonk but Additional Director (Geology) NP Singh said that there are about 16 lakh tonnes of gravel. Now, questions are being raised on arbitrary calculation instead of calculating gravel per cubic metre as per rules.

The density of gravel per cubic metre in Banas River is 1.40 to 1.60 tonnes. Whereas after the drone survey the drone company is calculating 2.40 tonnes per cubic metre. So the fine is also calculated to be around Rs 80 crore. Even Mine Secretary Anandi was not given proper information in the matter. Due to blockade, hundreds of trucks are waiting.
