Expansion of Metro Phase-2, hi-tech city near capital Jaipur announced
Jaipur: Rajasthan’s Bhajan Lal Sharma govt has presented the vote on account, the first budget of its tenure. There are some announcements for Jaipur, which are similar to the plans of earlier governments. One such announcement is preparation of DPR for the expansion of Phase-2 of Jaipur Metro.
Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari, while presenting the interim budget in the Assembly, has announced plans to expand Phase-2 of the proposed metro in Jaipur (from Sitapura to Ambabadi) to Vidyadhar Nagar. The first DPR of Phase-2 was prepared during the Ashok Gehlot government’s tenure. In 2012, a 23-kilometre track was proposed in the DPR prepared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The cost was around Rs 10,400 crore but in revised DPR, the cost has come down to Rs 6500 crore.
Govt announces hitech city near capital
The government has announced plans to build a hi-tech city near Jaipur city. In this, govt IT companies, finance sector and technology research companies will be invited to set up their respective units. For this, the companies will be given incentives by the government in purchasing land and taxes. Earlier, the Vasundhara Raje govt had started a similar city in the name of Mahindra SEZ on Ajmer Road. In this, some multinational tech companies and international banks have started their offices and units.
However, due to lack of basic facilities like water, companies are not showing interest here.
Besides, 15 years ago, the government had also announced plans to build a Science Tech City on about 1,000 bighas of land near Achrol on Delhi Road.
500 electric buses for big cities like Jaipur-Udaipur-Kota
During the budget speech, the Finance Minister Diya Kumari said, ‘I announce to provide 500 electric buses to the inter-state as well as big cities like Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur.’
