DOCTORS, NURSES DO NOT GO TO RURAL AREAS; I’LL END DEPUTATIONS: MEENA

‘EVEN WITH 2000 SURPLUS ANMs WE HAVE LOCKS AT 1700 CENTRES & NO DOCTORS AT 200 PHCS’

Jaipur: Health Minister Parsadi Lal Meena has exposed the irregularities of his own department in the assembly on Friday.

He admitted that doctors and nursing staffers stay in the cities and do not go to far-flung and rural areas on posting with their political approach. Meena said, “It is a very pathetic condition.

Despite the availability of doctors and nurses, posts in hospitals are lying vacant. They are sitting in one place (posting). We will send doctors and nursing staff to hospitals (where posts are vacant),” he said. “We want doctors to work where they are posted,” he said.

The minister was replying to the debate for grant for the health department on Thursday night. He said that he will finish the game of deputation.

“I had decided on the very first day that I will stop this system of deputation,” he said. Meena said 2000 ANM are surplus but 1700 sub-centers are locked.

He said that the department will send doctors to sub-centers. Health Minister said that he is more concerned about the public than his position.

“Today, there are 6 CHCs and 200 PHCs where there is not a single doctor. ANMs are surplus here but there is no ANM at 1700 subcenters,” he said.
