District Collector takes charge of Galta Ji Temple Trust post HC verdict

Jaipur: A committee appointed by the Jaipur District Collector has taken charge of managing and operating the Galta Ji temple following a judgment by the Rajasthan High Court.

The Devsthan Department has appointed the Jaipur District Collector as the administrator of the Galta Ji Temple Trust. Subsequently, the Collector has formed a committee to oversee the temple’s management, with Additional Collector Rajkumar Kaswa appointed as its Chairman.

The committee also includes the Sub Divisional Officer of Jaipur First, Treasurer of Jaipur City, and Assistant Commissioner of the Devasthan Department. The committee will submit monthly reports. A board of administrators has been established at the temple. Additional police personnel have been deployed at Galta Ji for security, which will be maintained in the coming days.

The committee has opened donation boxes under videography and is currently compiling information on the trust’s properties.

The Collector mentioned that the temple staff involved in worship and other duties will continue their responsibilities.

Recently, Rajasthan HC invalidated the appointment of Mahant Avdheshacharya of Galta Peeth Tirtha and directed the State Government to assume control of the Peeth, reverting its status to that of 1943. The court also nullified all previous sales of Galta Peeth properties.
