Discoms to get Rs 783 crore after Appellate decision
Jaipur: Electricity discoms have won a 7 year long battle against railways in Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL). In its order, APTEL rejected railway’s claim of “Deemed Licensee”. As a result, surcharge will be applicable on open access power purchase of Railways.
After the order, officers of all 3 electricity companies of State became active Jaipur Discom alone estimated recovery of Rs 783 crore from Railways. After calculation of Jodhpur-Ajmer Discom, a demand note will be issued to Railways. With this, addl surcharge- cross subsidy which was closed for seven years will be recovered from the railway.
In 2017, the railway had taken a decision while considering itself a deemed licensee.
