Congress playing safe game while declaring candidates for Raj polls
Jaipur: Congress was seen playing a safe game in the first list of candidates for Rajasthan Assembly elections. Congress has first declared candidates on those 33 seats, out of which it has 29 seats currently in its kitty. Congress has lost on only four assembly seats out of the 33 declared. The difference in strategy between Congress and BJP is clearly visible from the first list itself. Out of the first list of 41 candidates, BJP had distributed tickets on 40 seats where it had lost. BJP adopted the policy of declaring tickets first on the seats where he party has a weak position, so that the candidates can get more time to campaign. Congress did not give this opportunity to those contesting elections from its weaker seats.
It was being said that the names of candidates for 106 seats have been finalized at the high command level. There was some dispute on three-four seats. In such a situation, it was expected that there would be around a hundred names in the first list. When the list was released, only 33 names were visible in it. Among these, along with CM Gehlot, the names included those candidates whose tickets were considered confirmed, including Dr. CP Joshi, GS Dotasra, Sachin Pilot, Harish Chaudhary and Mamta Bhupesh. There was doubt only on the name of Archana Sharma, who had lost twice. The tickets of last time’s defeated candidates Pushpendra Bhardwaj, Lalit Yadav & Vivek Dhakad were also considered almost certain. It is believed in political circles that although the first list of Congress is not going to create any controversy or dissatisfaction.
