"CM is making unrestrained comments because...": Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat attacks Ashok Gehlot
Barmer: Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and said that the CM is making unrestrained comments because of his political selfishness.
Addressing a press conference, Shekhawat said, "Whenever the issue of corruption of Rajasthan government comes up, the ‘Sanjeevani scam’ comes to mind. I and my family were somehow involved in this cooperative scam of Sanjeevani. So what were you waiting for? For four and a half years, why didn't they take action against me and interrogated me? Apart from Sanjeevani, there are 14 cooperative societies in Rajasthan which have failed. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is not worried about the investors of those 14 societies. Had I been involved in any way in the last four and a half years, they would have given me a notice and called me."
Gajendra Singh Shekhawat further attacked CM Ashok Gehlot and accused him of making unrestrained comments because of his political selfishness.
“The Chief Minister is making claims at different places. They do the work of spewing soot on me. Not even once did the police call me to come and cooperate in the investigation. In the court, his lawyer replied to the judge's question that he was not named in any of the FIRs. More than 100 FIRs have been written. More than four chargesheets have been filed but none has been named. CM is making unrestrained comments because of his political selfishness and not being able to digest the defeat,” he said.
“I didn't become an accused but I filed a defamation case for commenting on my late mother. In that, the court has considered the CM as an accused,” he added.
Further targeting Gehlot's plans, Shekhawat said “The government is giving itself a certificate. It has become a habit of the government to pat itself on the back and brag about its own success, and then to live with a sense of complacency. At the time of Corona, whether it is a matter of mismanagement or should it be about the current situation. Today, the whole of Rajasthan is feeling troubled. Every class is suffering and agitating. The government is giving itself a certificate. It is saying that the standards of good governance have been established.”
On ‘One Nation One Election’, Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has said that the elections in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh will be held on time and we have to wait on Lok Sabha elections which will be held in next year.
“The elections of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will be held as per their scheduled time. While on Lok Sabha, we have to wait as fruit of waiting is sweet.”
Politics in Rajasthan has intensified as the legislative assembly elections in the state are scheduled to be held later this year
In 2018 the Congress won 99 seats while the BJP won 73 seats in the 200-member house. The Congress led by Ashok Gehlot formed the government with the support of Independents and the BSP.
