Brahmins seek 14% reservation

Jaipur: Education Minister BD Kalla on Sunday accused the Central govt curtailing Brahmin reservations. He emphasized the state has given 14 percent reservation compared to the central govt’s 10 percent.

At the same time, Chairman of Khadi Board Brij Kishore Sharma said that the condition of Brahmins in the country has become much less important than before.

They were speaking at Brahmin Mahasangam in Ramnivas garden, aiming to strengthen the social, political, and economic standing of Brahmins. The programme saw participation of the community people from across the country and even abroad. The event was participated by saints, mahants, politicians, and people from various Brahmin organizations.

Minister Mahesh Joshi, BJP MP Ramcharan Bohra, former chairman of the Staff Selection Board Hariprasad Sharma also reached the Mahasangam.

Protests erupted during the address of Jaipur MP Ramcharan Bohra, prompting him to pause and enquire if the audience wanted him to continue speaking. Slogans raised against him.

During the Mahasangam, the Brahmin community put forth several demands, including a 14 percent reservation based on economic criteria, the establishment of Lord Parshuram University, the installation of a towering 111-foot statue of Lord Parshuram, and a request for 35 assembly election tickets from both the parties.
