Historically, Alwar has been a stronghold for the Yadav community. In 1989, Ramjilal Yadav of the Janata Dal defeated Congress’s Ram Singh Yadav, leading to the formation of the National Front government at the Centre after Congress’s defeat. In 1999, Jaswant Yadav of the BJP defeated Congress’s Mahendra Kumari, leading to the formation of the NDA government. Jaswant Yadav was defeated by Dr. Karan Singh Yadav in 2004.

In recent years, the BJP has made significant inroads, with leaders like Mahant Chandnath and Mahant Balaknath securing victories in 2014 and 2019, respectively. BJP has nominated veteran leader Bhupender Yadav for 2024 Lok Sabha polls in hopes to continue their winning streak here.

The Congress, known for its strongholds in five assembly seats within the Alwar Lok Sabha constituency, is gearing up with Lalit Yadav, MLA from Mundawar, as the candidate. This move underscores the party’s determination to reclaim its foothold in the region.
