50% increase in rape cases in Raj, says Suman Sharma
Jaipur: BJP leader and former chairperson of Women’s Commission Suman Sharma said that the cases of gangrape have doubled in the state under the Ashok Gehlot government and there has been a 50 per cent increase in rape cases. Talking to reporters at the BJP headquarters on Sunday, Sharma said that incidents of rape have been reported in Jaipur’s Kardhani, Kota’s Chhatrapura, Ganganagar’s Anupgarh, Jaipur’s Shivdaspura, Jodhpur, Pali and Amber.
Sharama said that it seems that there is no law and order and government in the state. “The incident of love jihad in Jalupura, Jaipur is scary. The Chief Minister should guarantee security to women instead of guaranteeing them with cellphones,” she said.
BJP state spokesperson Laxmikant Bhardwaj said that the situation of crime in the state is very serious. “In Alwar’s Shahjahanpur, an eightyear-old Dalit child missing since Saturday was found murdered with her throat slit. The victim’s family had sought police help, but the police did not take the matter seriously,” he said. He added that body of the child was found just 500 metres away from her house. Six murders are happening daily in the state.
