50 held during protest for Sambhar-Phulera district

Jaipur: About 24 people were injured in the lathicharge and 50 were detained when people blocked the Ajmer Highway on Sunday demanding Sambhar-Phulera to be made a district. As the protestors threw stones on the highway near Sawarda of Dudu and pelted stones at police, the police lathicharged and fired tear gas.

In fact, the Sambhar-Phulera District Banao Sangharsh Samiti had warned of a massive protest on the National Highway in Mokhampura (Dudu) on Sunday. In the afternoon, dodging the police, people reached the highway near Sawarda from the fields and tried to block the National Highway by throwing stones.

Police arrested Cong leader Vidyadhar Singh and former BJP district president DD Kumawat from Mokhampura.
