450 units of blood spoiled due to negligence of drug officers in Jpr
Jaipur: In a significant oversight, the negligence of drug officers has resulted in the deterioration of 450 units of blood at the capital’s Jeevandaat Blood Center. The center’s license was revoked on February 8 following a mutual dispute. Prior to this revocation, the staff destroyed 47 units of expired blood components, but their investigation report failed to specify the quantity of blood components or their expiration dates.
Subsequently, 440 units of packed red blood cells (PRBC) and 33 units of random donor platelets (RDP) expired before the license termination. During the initial inspection, these blood units were transferred to a government facility. The then-Commissioner deemed the negligence of the drug officers to be extremely serious. On the advice of the Medical Minister, a chargesheet has been issued to the responsible authorities.
