Wrong DOB of IAS sends DOPT in tizzy

Lucknow: Change in the date of birth of a senior IAS officer in Uttar Pradesh bureaucracy has caused a stir from DOPT to Lucknow appointment department. This is the latest case related to Shahid Manjar Abbas Rizvi, a 2006 batch IAS officer, whose date of birth in the Uttar Pradesh government is recorded as August 31, 1965. Accordingly, his retirement will be on August 31, 2025. But his date of birth has been wrongly recorded as August 31, 1961 in the Centre’s DOPT records....according to which his retirement should have been on August 31, 2021. Work was going on in DOPT to publish the gradation list for the year 2023 in which the data of IAS officers posted in all the state is updated. However, the officer in question is currently in service. When DOPT contacted the appointment department of UP to confirm his birth, the DOPT was told that in all the records present in UP, the date of birth denoted is August 31, 1965. This raised a pertinent question as to how did the record change in DOPT?
