World’s biggest poll hits the Homestretch!
New Delhi: Voting for the 6th and penultimate phase of the general elections wrapped up in 58 constituencies spanning six states and two Union territories on Saturday. This included all 7 seats in Delhi. According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the total voter turnout reached 60% by 11:30 pm.
The polling process proceeded smoothly nationwide during this phase, except for an incident in West Midnapore district of West Bengal. BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Jhargram had to flee the Mangalapota area of Garbeta as stones were hurled at him and his security personnel.
As the 6th phase, the second-to-last stage, draws to a close, the world’s largest poll festival is now on the brink of its final step: the 7th and last phase of the Lok Sabha Election 2024.
