WHY CAN'T GIRLS 'FIGHT' IN PUNJAB?

New Delhi: The Congress party has given the slogan of ‘Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon’ (I am a girl, I can fight) in Uttar Pradesh and is contesting the elections on the same slogan.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has given this slogan and has started giving 40 percent tickets to women as per her promise.

Although she herself is not contesting the elections, it is also being suggested in social media that the Congress party should change the slogan to ‘Ladki hoon lad sakti hoon’.

However, the question is if the girls of Uttar Pradesh can fight, can’t the girls of Punjab do so? Why is the Congress party not giving this slogan in Punjab and giving tickets to girls in the same proportion there too? In Punjab, the Congress party has declared candidates for 86 seats out of 117 seats.

Of these, only 8% tickets have been given to women; a sharp contrast from Uttar Pradesh’s forty percent tickets! If Congress feels that women are emerging as a separate electorate group and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s face can bring them with Congress by freeing them from the constraints of caste, religion etc. then it should be tried in Punjab also.

If the Congress is not doing this, then it simply means that it will do such experiments only in those states where it sees the failure of these experiments to be certain.

If there is no chance of winning the election in Uttar Pradesh, then make the girls fight and where there is a possibility of winning the election, give tickets according to the political equation
