‘Veteran’ Bollywood fraternity attend the last rites of Santoor maestro Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Santoor maestro Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma was cremated today with full state honours. He was suffering from kidney-related issues for the past six months and suffered a massive cardiac arrest on May 10, causing his demise. The ‘antim darshan’ took place at the residential home of his son Rahul Sharma and was cremated at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle.

The music director was the other half of the duo Shiv-Hari, the other being flute legend Pt Hari Prasad Chaurasia.

The funeral was attended by the veteran Bollywood fraternity who paid their last respects to the legendary music composer. Amitabh Bachchan attended the funeral along with wife Jaya Bachchan. Javed Akhtar who debuted as a lyricist with Silsila, a movie album that was composed by the musical duo Shiv-Hari, attended with his wife Shabana Azmi. Amitabh and Jaya were also a part of the classic movie who is known for its beautifully composed album.

Others from the music industry including lyricist and poet Prasoon Joshi and singer Roop Kumar Rathod marked their presence at the funeral.

Rahul Sharma, the son of Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, who also is a music director and fantastic santoor player carried the last rites of his father.
