SONIA, RAHUL WILL NEVER COMPROMISE ON IDEOLOGICAL FIGHT: ASHOK GEHLOT

New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi and former party chief Rahul Gandhi have given the message that they will never compromise on the ideological fight against the BJPled dispensation, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Monday and claimed the “arrogance” with which Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been acting will come to an end. Gehlot, who reached Delhi on Sunday evening to take part in the party’s protest over ED notices to Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, was also taken into custody and although he argued on being stopped by the Delhi Police, he was not allowed to go, was detained and taken to Fatehpur Beri police station. However, he was released shortly after being taken into custody.

Speaking to delhi police officials, Gehlot said, “What difference will it make if you let five people go? Your conscience is like ours too, let us go.” The Delhi Police had blocked the road by barricading.

The Congress leaders also objected to the officers of Delhi Police that such behavior with the Chief Minister of a state is not right. Along with Gehlot, many leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge, Jairam Ramesh, Mukul Wasnik, Digvijay Singh, Deepender Hooda, Pawan Khera, PL Poonia, Gaurav Gogoi, Meenakshi Natarajan were arrested.

After being taken into custody, Gehlot targeted the central government and said, “The way the peaceful march of the Congress party has been stopped today, the whole country is watching this dictatorship. The Congress headquarters has been cordoned off, police have been deployed all around. Politicians and activists are being detained. I have also been taken into custody along with my associates while going to the ED office. “There is so much pressure on the CBI, Income Tax, ED, DRI, judiciary that even if someone wants to work in an impartial manner, that person cannot do it.”

Gehlot further added, “This is absolutely unfair in a democracy. The ED notice that has been issued to Rahul and Sonia Gandhi, the worker of the country will not tolerate it. There are agitations in every district and block. They should understand that justice should prevail and let the rule of law be established. The youth have to understand who has truth on their side. The time has come that every Indian should think about where we want to take the country. Rahul Gandhi said in London that BJP has poured kerosene all over the country. Now you see what is happening? Riots are happening, riots are being instigated, tensions are rising.”

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are walking around with ego and arrogance. Arrogance has not worked for anyone till today, it is not going to work for them either, it will end tomorrow, if not today,” he said.
