RSPCB now under CGST scanner for false ITC claims
Jaipur: The Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) has come under the radar of the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) after it was found to have improperly claimed Input Tax Credit (ITC) on exempted supplies. Despite certain transactions being exempt from GST, the board availed full benefit of ITC on purchases, including capital goods.
ITC is only permissible for taxable goods or services and it mandates the reversal of ITC in cases of tax-exempt transactions. In a related case, Hari Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd. was caught underreporting GST by applying an incorrect classification.
The company paid only 12% GST instead of the required 18%.
