Riaz directs officials to resolve women’s issues on priority
Dungarpur: The Rajasthan State Women’s Commission organised a district-level public hearing at the Dungarpur Circuit House on Thursday. Commission Chairperson Rehana Riaz, along with other members, listened to the grievances of local women and issued directives to officials to empower women, particularly those affected by domestic violence, and ensure they benefit from government schemes aimed at women’s welfare.
Many women raised issues related to the nata (informal marriage) system, where married women reported that their husbands continued to live with other women under this system, subjecting them to violence and even forcing them out of their homes.
During the hearing, Riaz directed the commission to help empower women, particularly victims of domestic violence, by ensuring they benefit from govt schemes and programs aimed at empowerment and self-reliance.
