PM’s vision: Empower youth for strong nation

Aalo (Arunachal Pradesh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, envisioned equipping the youth with superior academic qualifications in areas like terrorism, extremism, and internal security. This vision led to the establishment of Raksha Shakti University, which has now evolved into the National Defence University under his leadership as Prime Minister. The second campus of this institution, located in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, is preparing students from the Northeast for a stronger India.

Established in 2009 under the leadership of then-Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Raksha Shakti University was designed to provide advanced academic training to youth in areas such as counter-terrorism, extremism, internal security, police sciences, forensic sciences, and cyber security. The university emphasizes professional security, strategic studies, and defense education. In 2020, the govt upgraded this university to the National Defence University, with its main campus in Gandhinagar. The university later opened its first campus outside Gujarat in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh. This campus now offers various specialized courses. According to Avinash Kharel, the director of the university, these courses are increasingly attracting young students.

The Pasighat campus was established under a memorandum of understanding between the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and the National Defence University.
