Panel to realise PM Modi’s vision on health promotion

New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has formed a 26 members technical expert group to realise the vision of PM Modi, “Developed India @ 2047” and to give its recommendations, expertise, guidance and special suggestions regarding health promotion. This group, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr Atul Goyal, Director General of Health Services, includes 26 members.

The govt has constituted this Technical Expert Group (TG) to advance health interests in the country, provide specific technical expertise and field expertise, and provide guidelines and support to mitigate risks against the NCD programme of the National Health Mission (NHM). The Technical Expert Group was earlier known as the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Disease and Stroke (NP-NCD). Currently this programme is running under the NHM.

Dr Smita Joshi, Director, of Smit Medical and Heart Hospital, Gujarat is a key member of committee as she is working to create awareness for prevention and diagnosis of diabetes in children. She is working to include diabetes in kids (Type 1 diabetes, or in medical terms, it is also called Type 1 juvenile diabetes) in national health programmes.
