"My next five years will be dedicated to Hamirpur," says Anurag Thakur, who is set for fifth consecutive term
Hamirpur: Union Minister and BJP candidate from Hamirpur, Anurag Thakur, all set for his fifth term, on Tuesday expressed his gratitude towards the people and asserted that his next five years will be dedicated to the people of Hamirpur and Himachal Pradesh.
The remarks of Anurag Thakur come amidst the latest trends by the Election Commission of India, which shows the BJP candidate from Himachal Pradesh's Hamirpur leading ahead with 1,77,306 votes.
In Himachal Pradesh, the BJP is leading in all the constituencies, Kangra, Mandi, Hamirpur, and Shimla.
Speaking with ANI, Thakur said, "The people of Hamirpur have shown trust in me. I am thankful to the people of Himachal Pradesh and Hamirpur for blessing me for the fifth time. I will be working for the next five years for the people of Hamirpur. My next five years will be dedicated to the people of Hamirpur and Himachal Pradesh, for the betterment of poor people, and the development of the region."
He added further, "I would like to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi, JP Nadda, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh. The senior leaders of the BJP have showered their blessings on me. I think the BJP will again cross 300 seats and under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, the NDA will form the government."
Targeting the Congress party, he said, "...Congress party is not even close to winning 100 Lok Sabha seats."
The Union Minister also took to his official X handle, Thakur expressed gratitude to the people for choosing him for the fifth consecutive time. He said, "Emotional, joyful, proud! I express my heartfelt gratitude to the God-like people of my Hamirpur parliamentary constituency for showing faith in me for the fifth consecutive time, giving me so much love, blessings and support and for this historic victory."
The post further reads, "I am proud that the people of my parliamentary constituency have further strengthened the trust shown in me by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the National President Jagat Prakash Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah and the workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party. This victory is the victory of the people of my Hamirpur parliamentary constituency and all the party workers."
He also said, "This time, I will further strengthen my resolve to fulfil the hopes, aspirations and my duty with more responsibility and to take the region to new heights of development. I am proud that along with the entire country, Devbhoomi Himachal and my Hamirpur parliamentary constituency are playing their full part in making Narendra Modi the Prime Minister again."
Meanwhile, as the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha polls is underway, the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA crossed the majority mark in early leads and the INDIA bloc above 200, defying all exit poll predictions. BJP is ahead in 241 seats while its broader coalition NDA is leading in 293 seats. The majority mark is 272.
Meanwhile, the INDIA bloc is leading on 233 seats and others on 17 seats. Congress is leading on 98 seats, Samajwadi Party on 35, DMK on 21 seats, Trinamool Congress on 30, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) on 10 seats, NCP (SP) on eight seats, CPI(M) on five seats and Aam Aadmi Party on three seats.
