Mumbai Police increases Salman Khan’s security to Y+ after death threats increases

Mumbai (Maharashtra): The Maharashtra government has upgraded Salman Khan's security level to Y+ following threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The actor has come under threat after the brutal murder of Punjabi singer and politician, Sidhu Moosewala. The Mumbai Police had provided regular protection to Salman until now, reports indicate. But after the threats began to rise again, the actor will now receive Y+ security cover. Hence, he will be protected at all times by four-armed security personnel.

A similar level of security has also been granted to Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher. As of now, both of them have been assigned X-category security, which means respectively three security officers will be watching them personally in shifts 24 hours a day. The actors will be responsible for the cost of the protection, according to a report.

There was a threat letter sent to Salman and his father, Salim Khan, in June this year threatening to kill them like Moosewala. The incident happened after Mumbai Police arrested multiple gangsters from Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang following the singer's death, many of whom confessed to targeting Salman.
It was reported that the gangsters tried to kill Salman once outside his Bandra home in 2017 and again at his Panvel farmhouse in 2018. Meanwhile, Akshay’s security was increased after questions were raised over his nationality on social media and Anupam Kher was given security after he received threats following the release of his film, The Kashmir Files.
