Modi highlights India’s efforts for green growth

Schloss Elmau: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that India’s dedication to climate commitments is evident from its performance. Speaking at a G7 session on climate, energy and health, Modi said that his country have achieved the target of 40% energy capacity from non-fossil sources nine years before time. He also highlighted that, although 17% of the world’s population resides in India, its contribution of global carbon emissions is only 5%.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz welcomed PM Modi where the leaders of world’s seven richest countries will discuss various global issues, including the Russian invasion of Ukraine, food and counter-terrorism.
