Jitan Ram Manjhi celebrates Gaya industrial corridor project, promises growth and development

Patna: Former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Wednesday through a post on his social media handle announced a major step towards the development of Gaya, celebrating the successful implementation of his pre-election promise to build an industrial corridor in the region.
In a post on X he said, "The happiest day for a politician is when the promises made by him during elections start getting implemented meaningfully. When I had made a pre-election announcement about building an industrial corridor in Gaya for the development of Gaya, some people might have thought that like other leaders, Manjhi too was making such announcements to win the election, but the people of Gaya had faith that Jitan Manjhi would save us all.
"Now it is the time of Gaya, it is the time of Gaya ji. Now Gaya has got 'wings' added to it. Gaya is ready to fly in the sky of development. Jai Gaya, victory, Jai Magadh", he added.
This statement came after signing of an agreement between the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC), the Bihar government, and the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) to establish an Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) in Gaya.
The agreement, signed on Tuesday is a major step in the development of the region under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC).
The IMC Gaya project, which is in line with the state government's 'Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi' (Development and Heritage) vision, will be located 39 kilometers south of Gaya International Airport and will span 1,670 acres. The project is expected to attract a total investment of Rs 16,524 crore, with a project cost of Rs 1,339 crore.
The development will not only boost Gaya's economy but also create around 109,000 jobs for local residents. The cluster will support industries in various sectors such as building materials, agri-food processing, leather goods, readymade garments, and medical equipment.
Gaya's strategic location offers excellent connectivity, with key transport links like NH-19 (Golden Quadrilateral) and NH-22 nearby, as well as access to Gaya Junction and the upcoming New Paharpur Railway Station. The cluster will include extensive infrastructure like a 29.89 km internal road network. The cluster will also have 'Plug n Play' infrastructure facilities like Common Effluent Treatment Plant, Sewage Treatment Plant, Water Treatment Plant, Solid Waste Management, Stormwater drainage, and green landscaping to ensure environmental compliance.
