"If it is 300 paar, it is not vote of people but of EVM": Digvijaya Singh targets BJP ahead of counting for LS polls
Bhopal: A day ahead of the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha polls, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh has said that the INDIA alliance will get 295 seats and form the next government.
Without naming the BJP, he said if it gets over 300 seats, then "it is not people's vote but of EVM (electronic voting machine)".
"If people have voted, then they will not get a majority and the figure given by Congress of 295 seats (for INDIA alliance) is correct. If it is '300 paar', it is not the vote of people but of EVM," he said.
Digvijay Singh, a former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, is contesting Lok Sabha polls from Rajgarh in the state.
Congress and some other constituents of the INDIA alliance have insisted that they will get 295 of 543 seats in Lok Sabha polls and form the next government at the Centre. Exit polls, however, have said that BJP-led NDA will return to power with a large majority.
Earlier, in the day, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar said that India had created a record in the Lok Sabha election by recording the highest voter turnout in the world.
"We have created a world record of 642 million voters. This is the historic moment for all of us. This is 1.5 times the voters of all G7 countries and 2.5 times voters of 27 countries in the European Union (EU). We thank each and every one who took part in this festival of democracy. The Indian elections are indeed a miracle, having no parallel in the world," Rajiv Kumar said.
