"Hand over investigation to CBI": BJP leader Vijayendra on alleged MUDA scam

Mysuru: Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party chief and MLA BY Vijayendra on Friday held a protest in Mysuru in connection with the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam and demanded to hand over the investigation of the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Meanwhile, the police also detained BY Vijayendra and party leaders near the Tollgate.
"There should be an impartial investigation. There cannot be an SIT investigation headed by the state government. BJP is demanding that the CM should hand over the investigation of this case to the CBI. Secondly, when the CM himself is involved in this scam, he should resign. Not only the CM's family but many ministers and their relatives are also involved in this scam. It is a scam of more than Rs 5000 crores. So the CM cannot escape responsibility. Being the CM of the state, he should answer to the people of Karnataka. We demand that he should hand over the investigation of this case to the CBI," Vijayendra told ANI.
Earlier on Thursday, following the protests of the Karnataka unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against state Chief Minister Siddaramiah over the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam, the latter attacked the party saying that they too know how to 'resist politically'.
The Chief Minister also ruled out the occurrence of any scams, saying that the land allotment under the MUDA order was carried out under the BJP government in 2021.
Speaking to reporters in Mysuru3, CM Siddaramiah said, "The BJP is protesting politically. Do they only want to do politics over everything? We too know how to resist politically".
"Our is not a scam. The MUDA used our lands; those who lost their lands were allotted the same under the BJP government in the 50:50 ratio. Did we do this?" the Karnataka Chief Minister asked.
On Wednesday, a complaint was filed against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and nine others for allegedly forging documents to claim compensation from the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). The complaint, filed by social activist Snehamayi Krishna, alleges the wrongdoings of Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathy, his brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy Devaraj, who claimed to be a landowner, and his family.
The complaint was lodged at Vijayanagar Police Station in Mysore. The complaint also alleges the involvement of the deputy commissioner, tehsildar, deputy registrar, and MUDA officials in the same case.
Along with the police, the letter has also been written to the governor, the state chief secretary, and the principal secretary of the revenue department.
The complainant alleged that MUDA cheated by creating fake documents and obtaining plots worth crores of rupees. Snehamayi Krishna has raised several questions in his complaint.
