EXISTENTIALIST CRISIS BSP reaches nadir, winning just 1 seat in ’22

Lucknow: The BSP, which is passing through the worst phase since its formation, is facing a decisive struggle for its existence.

While BSP supremo Mayawati is rebuilding the party organization through reshuffle, the plan is also being implemented to include the veteran leaders who left the party back. Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali has returned to BSP.

Jamali, who contested from Mubarakpur assembly seat from Owaisi’s party AIMIM, has also been declared by Mayawati as the party candidate for the by-election of Azamgarh parliamentary seat.

At the same time, there were speculations about the entry of former cabinet minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui, who had been expelled from the BSP, again in the BSP.

Siddiqui was also contacted by the BSP coordinators but he rejected any such proposal and expressed his faith in the Congress leadership.

Notably, many political stalwarts are included in the list of leaders who have left the BSP; important among them are Babu Singh Kushwaha, Swami Prasad Maurya, Brajesh Pathak, Masood Ahmed, Dinanath Bhaskar, Inderjit Saroj, Ramvir Upadhyay, Lalji Verma and Ramchal Rajbhar. Some of these leaders have been well settled in other parties, while some are still deprived of a safe political space.

Election results clearly indicate that the performance of BSP has reached its worst level since 1993. The vote share of the BSP, which won just one seat in this election, has come down to about thirteen percent.
