Ek Anaar, Sau Bimar: The story of RJD’s RS election!

Patna: In Bihar, biennial elections are to be held for five Rajya Sabha seats and bypoll for one seat. The seat for the by-election has been vacated by the death of JDU’s Mahendra Prasad, so that seat will go to JDU only. Out of the remaining five, two seats will go to BJP, two to RJD and one to JDU. This time RJD is getting the advantage of one seat. One seat is falling vacant for Misa Bharti, on which she will again be sent to the Upper House. However, there are many contenders for the second seat of RJD. Although the Congress is also making a claim, but the coordination between the two parties has ended and hence its claim has no meaning.

The strongest contender for an RJD seat is that of veteran leader Sharad Yadav, who recently merged his party with RJD. He is politically active again and the party can send him to the Upper House. Last time RJD sent AD Singh, who was able to mobilize resources and this time too there is talk of giving a seat to such a businessman. Even the discussion of sending Mumbai’s famous Baba Siddiqui to Rajya Sabha was discussed in the past. But Tejashwi Yadav will think ten times before giving Rajya Sabha to any ‘outside person’.
