Delhi Police arrest medical equipment thief
New Delhi: The Delhi Police's Saket police station has arrested a man who used to allegedly steal expensive medical equipment from hospitals, posing as a medical equipment representative.
The arrested accused, identified as Yogesh Kumar, was caught on August 29 and has confessed to stealing two medical equipment worth around four to five lakhs, said Police.
According to the police, Yogesh used to sell the stolen equipment online at cheaper prices. The police have recovered one indirect ophthalmoscope and one scan pachymeter from his possession.
The case was registered on August 19, after a complaint was filed by Max Hospital, Saket, regarding the theft of an indirect ophthalmoscope from their ophthalmology department. The police team analysed CCTV footage and gathered inputs from technical sources to identify the accused.
Yogesh, (55), a resident of Shahibabad, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, was found to be working in a company that supplies medical equipment to hospitals.

The police said they have solved two cases of theft with the arrest of Yogesh Kumar.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police have arrested 17 individuals accused of various cybercrimes in a series of raids conducted across multiple states.
"The Cyber South West district apprehended 17 suspects involved in various cybercrimes. Multiple teams conducted raids across different states as part of a week-long Special Cyber Ops," said Rohit Meena, DCP South West.
During the operation, raids were carried out in Mewat, Ajmer, Jodhpur in Rajasthan, Deoghar and Dumka in Jharkhand, Rajgarh and Sehore in Madhya Pradesh, Samastipur in Bihar, Giridih and Jamtara in Jharkhand, Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh, and Mumbai.
