Delhi: Former BJP MLA Brahm Singh Tanwar joins AAP

New Delhi: BJP leader and former three-time MLA Brahm Singh Tanwar joined AAP in the presence of party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi on Thursday.
Kejriwal welcomed Tanwar and his supporters into the party. Tanwar represented Mehrauli twice and Chattarpur once in the Delhi Assembly.
Tanwar said that he joined the AAP as he was impressed by the capability of Kejriwal and the AAP government's record of development in Delhi.
"I joined AAP after seeing Arvind Kejriwal's capability and the developmental works done by the AAP government in Delhi. I will work for the development of the people along with the Kejriwal. In the next election, AAP will form government in Delhi and I will cooperate with it," Tanwar told reporters.
He said that in the coming days, more of his supporters will join AAP after quitting the BJP.
Kejriwal said that Tanwar is a big leader in Delhi and his joining will strengthen the party and give new energy.
"Today is a very happy day for AAP. Brahm Singh Tanwar ji is a big leader in Delhi. In the last 50 years in different roles in public life, he has been serving the people of Delhi. He has been MLA from Chhatarpur and Mehrauli. He has done development in these areas. He has contributed a lot to the development of Delhi," Kejriwal said.
The AAP chief said that though his party has been in existence just 10 to 12 years, more people are joining the party after being impressed by the party's ideology and its developmental record in Delhi and in Punjab.
Earlier, AAP sources said that Arvind Kejriwal would campaign for INDIA bloc candidates in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Arvind Kejriwal is likely to campaign on assembly seats where AAP has a volunteer base and where the MVA candidates don't have a controversial background.
In addition to Kejriwal, other senior AAP leaders will also campaign for MVA candidates. Kejriwal is also likely to campaign for JMM candidates in Jharkhand.
Kejriwal, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in March this year, in connection with the Delhi excise policy case, came out of Tihar Jail last month, after being granted bail by the Supreme Court.
