Congress Screening Committee on Raj tour from August 28-31
New Delhi: The meeting of the Congress Screening Committee on Rajasthan was held on Thursday and it was the first meeting of Screening Committee held at 15,GRG Congress War Room during which Screening Committee chairman Gaurav Gogoi presided over the meeting while state in-charge Sukhjinder Randhawa and all three co-in-charges along with committee members Abhishek Dutt and Ganesh Godial were also present. Notably, Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi have given instructions regarding the selection of winning candidates.
During the meet, brainstorming took place regarding the screening committee’s visit to Rajasthan and it has been decided that the committee will be on Rajasthan tour from August 28, to August 31.
During this time, round of meetings will be held in Jaipur Warroom from 28 to 30 August in which Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, PCC Chief Dotasra , all ministers, MLAs, former MLAs, AICC-PCC officials will be present and brainstorming will be held in the meeting regarding the selection of candidates. Thereafter, the Screening Committee will brainstorm on the same lines in Udaipur on August 31 after holding meetings in Jaipur. The committee will continuously exercise regarding the selection of candidates.
On Thursday, many points were discussed in the screening committee meeting and it is believed that Category A and Category D names will be released soon. About 65 to 80 seats are in the first list of candidates and by September 20, the first list of Congress will be released on about 80 seats will be announced. In the first list, the names of those candidates will be announced in A category where there is no dispute.
These will include those seats too on which Congress has lost elections 3-4 times. Congress will soon declare its candidates on seats so that candidates can get enough time to contest the polls. It was decided to call an open meeting in the meeting and the candidates will get a chance to put their point in front of screening committee. Such candidates will be given a chance to speak.
