BSF seizes narcotics from Punjab's Gurdaspur
Gurdaspur: Border Security Force (BSF) seized over six kilograms of narcotics concealed inside a battery case near the International border in Punjab’s Gurdaspur.
The seizure was made in the Dostpur village on Tuesday evening, BSF said in a press release.
Based on specific information regarding the presence of a concealed consignment of narcotics ahead of the border fence, a search operation was conducted by BSF troops in the bordering area near village Dostpur, the statement said.
During the search, troops recovered six packets of narcotics suspected to be heroin (approximately 6.3 kg) and one packet of suspected opium (approximately 70 gram), concealed inside a 12-volt battery and kept in the vicinity of the international border, ahead of border fencing.
Meanwhile, Punjab Police had in May this year launched a state-wide ‘Operation Clean’ aimed at keeping a tab on the activities of persons involved in the smuggling of commercial quantities of drugs.
