Arjun Ram Meghwal takes charge as MoS in Law Ministry
New Delhi: Arjun Ram Meghwal assumed charge as Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the Ministry of Law and Justice on Tuesday.
He was greeted by his colleagues and presented with a flower bouquet and tree saplings.
Speaking about the functioning of the ministry, Arjun Meghwal said, "The first most priority of the Ministry of Law and Justice is to implement the three changed criminal laws (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Sanhita) by July 1 and create awareness among the citizens about its implementation. The ministry will also conduct workshops, symposiums and seminars for related stakeholders."
Commenting on a report of 'One Nation and One Elections', Meghwal stated, "The report has come and we have submitted it to the President. The details of the report will be conveyed later."
Along with this role, Arjun Ram Meghwal has also been assigned as Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
Arjun Ram Meghwal is an MP from Bikaner for the fourth time; earlier, he left his IAS job to join politics and is counted among Modi's trusted leaders.
In the 2024 general elections, Arjun Ram Meghwal defeated Govindram Meghwal of Congress from Rajasthan's Bikaner seat by 55,711 votes.
Arjun Ram Meghwal, who had held the post of Law and Justice Minister, had left the IAS job and chosen the path of politics.
Meghwal is an Indian politician who served as the Minister of Law and Justice (Independent Charge) of the Government of India since 2023 and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs since 2017 and Culture since 2021 in Modi's second tenure.
