Amit Shah asked leaders to work for winning over 150 seats in Madhya Pradesh, says Kailash Vijayvargiya; Congress hits back
Bhopal: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kailash Vijayvargiya on Monday said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has asked party workers in Madhya Pradesh to work for winning at least 150 seats in the assembly polls later this year.
Vijayvargiya, who offered prayers at Nagchandreshwar temple located on the premises of Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain district on the occasion of Nag Panchami on Monday, expressed confidence about the BJP again forming the government in the state.
Talking to the media about the state working committee meeting held on Sunday during the visit of Amit Shah to the state, he said party workers and leaders are working towards realising the goal of winning more seats compared to the 2018 assembly polls.
“He (Amit Shah) works in a very subtle way. He has given mantra to the party workers that we have to win over 150 seats and the workers have taken this resolve. I hope we will form the government again in Madhya Pradesh by winning more seats,” Vijayvargiya said.
Asked about Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal’s visit to the state, Vijayvargiya said the state has had bipolar politics and never accepted a third party.
“Many people have come and left, he will also come and go. There has always been a two-party contest in the state, the third party has never got a place,” he said.
Congress MLA Kunal Choudhary hit out at the BJP over the target set by party.
“First BJP chief JP Nadda came and gave the slogan of ‘abki baar 200 par’. Home Minister Amit Shah has talked of 150 seats,” he said, adding that BJP leaders will come down to “100 seats and then 50 seats”.
“BJP will be limited to 50 seats. People are asked about corruption during BJP rule,” he said.
Earlier, Union Minister and BJP leader Narendra Singh Tomar had expressed confidence of winning over 150 seats in the 230-member Madhya Pradesh assembly.
BJP leader Imarti Devi, considered a loyalist of union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, said the party workers will strive to win 200 seats.
Imarti Devi had lost from Dabra during by-poll held in 2020.
“The person who is given the ticket, we will work and make the candidate win the polls,” she said. (ANI)
