Alwar Collector courts controversy once again after a face-off with girl students
Jaipur: Alwar Collector Nannumal Pahadia has once again courted controversy. A video of Pahadia getting angry and reprimanding the girl students, who went to give a memorandum demanding security of women, is going viral on social media across the country.
Deputy Leader of Opposition & senior BJP leader Rajendra Rathore has demanded Pahadia’s suspension on the matter.
Frightened by the alleged rape of a mentallychallenged girl, 8-10 girls of Alwar had reached the Collector’s chamber to plead for their safety, but surprisingly, the Collector got angry and instructed ADM Sunita Pankaj present there to note down the contact details of the girls fathers and asked whether the girls had come to study or do politics.
When the women workers of BJP present there intervened, the Collector got entangled with them too.
Someone captured a video of the entire incident, which is now going viral on social media. Rathore described the Alwar Collector’s conduct as “extremely unfortunate and indecent” and demanded his suspension for misbehaving with the girl students.
Pahadia, a 2007-batch promotee IAS officer, was in the news when he became Alwar Collector in November 2020 and got a board hung outside his chamber with a message inscribed on it–“Meeting time: Anytime apart from being busy in Meeting, VC and conference.” The board was removed after the news was flashed.
Pahadia is going to retire after 7 months in July 2022. In 31 years of service, he worked on a total of 31 posts.
This means, he could stay on one post for only one year. He was posted as Dholpur Collector for only 8 months, Karauli for 9 months and Sawai Madhopur for only 8 months.
He did not complete even a year as Collector in any of these districts. However, he has been posted in Alwar as District Collector for 13 months now. It is said that he is being patronised by an influential Congress leader of Alwar.
Because of the Congress leader, his name is being discussed for appointment on a major constitutional post, but the latest incident of alleged ‘misbehaviour’ with girl students may spoil this chance because this incident is being associated with the case of alleged rape of a speech and hearing impaired minor girl, which is echoing across the country
