Akhilesh’s disgruntled allies may prove costly

Lucknow: The cracks in the Samajwadi Party-led alliance had started emerging after the results of the assembly polls in UP. After the release of the list of SP nominees for the Legislative Council elections, not only these cracks have become wide open but the alliance has also started to disintegrate. Mahan Dal has broken ties with the SP alliance on a bitter note. Other constituents are also apprehensive about their future with the alliance. While these developments have once again put a question mark on the SP’s experiments with the alliance, the displeasure of the allies has also led to discussions about the possible damages to Akhilesh’s party.

Notably, Akhilesh Yadav had tied up with smaller parties for the assembly polls, with an objective of consolidating the OBCs vote bank. However, after falling far behind the majority mark in assembly, the SP-led alliance had started to deteriorate.

Shivpal and OP Rajbhar didn’t mince words to express their discontent with SP chief. Akhilesh ignored the rest of the allies for pacifying Azam Khan and Jayant Choudhary.
