THESE OFFICIALS DEFY ALL SERVICE NORMS, LITERALLY!

Jaipur: Some more interesting cases of transfer posting related to IAS and RAS have come to light. These cases are of officers staying in the same city for a long time, repeated postings on the same post and handling the same kind of responsibility half a dozen times.

IAS Pragya Kewalramani has been transferred in the new government but as usual she has remained in Udaipur. Pragya, a promoted IAS of 2010 batch, was first posted in Udaipur in the year 2001. In the last 24 years, she has been transferred 17 times but has been posted in Udaipur every time. Currently, she is Commissioner TAD in Udaipur.

Another interesting story is of 2007 batch IAS Nirmala Meena. She got her first posting in Jodhpur in 1992. After that, in the last 32 years, she had a total of 20 transfers, but every posting was in Jodhpur. Now, on 31 October, Nirmala Meena is retiring. Currently, she is the Member Secretary in the Commission for Protection of Child Rights in Jaipur.

How these women officers managed all this in a government job is a subject of research because staying in the same post and in the same city is not an easy task in a government job.

Similar cases are notable in the RAS cadre as well. In these cases also, the decision of DoP is beyond comprehension. Parshu Ram Dhankal is a 1998 batch RAS officer. DoP has appointed him as CEO, Zila Parishad, Tonk in the transfer list of 5 September. Earlier too he held this post in the year 2018-19. The interesting thing is that till now he has served as the CEO in different districts for a total of 10 times. In this way, he has been started being considered an expert in handling the responsibility of CEO in the cadre. This is a unique case in the RAS cadre.

Young RAS Damodar Singh of 2019 batch has been appointed SDO for the third time in Chauth ka Barwara of Sawai Madhopur in the transfer list of 23 September. Damodar has also held this post in the year 2020 and February 2024. There is a joke in the RAS cadre that Damodar and Chauth ka Barwara have become inseparable.
